Content: | This item is a pictorial propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office during the Second World War. An English translation of the text and captions is attached. The leaflet includes a number of pictures depicting the naval losses of Japan in the Pacific. The main text warns Japanese soldiers that it is not possible to continue modern warfare in the Pacific without ships and air support. It also states that garrisons on the Solomon Islands, New Guinea, the Marshalls and the Marianas were sacrificed uselessly. This item is a reprint of J222. 200,000 of them were printed. 50,000 of these leaflets were dispatched to Darwin in 23 and 30 November 1944, 90,000 to Hollandia on 9 December 1944, 30,000 to Nadzab on 15 December 1944, 30,000 to Torokina on 5 January 1945 and 3,000 to Darwin on 6 January 1945. |
