Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA145724 of the 51st Division, 102nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Company, who was captured at Butubutu by Australian New Guinea Administrative Unit (ANGAU) troops and handed over to US troops on 20 February 1944. During the interrogation, JA145724 provided information on the Japanese system of conscription and the 1,000 prisoners of war at Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture, whom he assumed to be Australian by their hats.
