| Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA145669 of the 20th Division Engineer Regiment 2nd Company, who was captured in Kalasa Hills near Sanga River on 7 January 1944. JA145669, a 26 year old Superior Private from Osaka, was suffering from malaria and could not keep up with his unit. He proceeded independently into Kalasa Hils and was trying to live on the local food with four other soldiers when he was captured by Australian troops. During the interrogation, JA145669 provided information on unit organisation, movement, Allied prisoners of war he saw in Seoul, medical services, and social conditions in Japan. |
