Content: | This item is a Japanese-language propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office. An English translation of the text is attached. This message was sent by the Commander-in-Chief of the Australian troops on Tarakan Island in order to urge Japanese servicemen to surrender. The message states that 4 officers and 41 soldiers surrendered to the Australian Army in Wewak on 10 May 1945 and they were treated fairly by the Australians. As Tarakan is isolated, the message urges the Japanese troops to surrender in order to contribute to the reconstruction of Japan. |
