| Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Superior Private JA145712 of the 20th Division 79th Infantry Regiment , who was captured in Gali which is located between Saidor and Kiari on 12 February 1944. JA145712, a 23 year old Superior Private from Nagasaki, was ill with malaria and half starved after living in the jungle for about 40 days when he was captured by local people and handed to Australian troops. He was a rifleman in his unit. During the interrogation, JA145712 provided information on unit organisation, movements, telescopic sights, rations in the unit and in Japan, and the social and economic situation in Japan. |
