Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for 1st Class Private MUTÔ Yokichi, of the South Seas Force, who was captured in Basa on either 1 or 2 December 1942. MUTÔ, a 37 year old from Akita, was suffering from malaria and too weak to move when he was captured. MUTÔ's unit joined the South Seas Force in August 1942 after arriving from Davao. He provided information on unit movements, equipment, rations, and medical services. He also elaborated on morale among the general population in Japan. |
