Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Superior Private JA147004 of the 53rd Infantry Regiment 1st Battalion 4th Company 1st Platoon, who was captured in Sumeru near Tuluvu in New Britain on 30 December 1943. JA147004, a 19 year old 1st Class Private from Kyoto, was unconscious as his position had received a direct hit before he was captured by US troops. During the interrogation, JA147004 provided information on unit organisation, movements, Japanese planes, and social conditions in Japan. As he had worked in the Kawanishi Airplane Factory in Hyôgo before his conscription, he gave some information on production and the layout of the factory compound. |
