Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147887, a civilian fisherman with the 4th Sea Transport Battalion, who was captured at Tanahmera Bay (50 kms west of Hollandia) by natives and handed over to US troops on 9 May 1944. During the interrogation, JA147887 provided information on the number of fishing vessels sent to Rabaul between May 1943 and June 1944, the number sunk during Allied sea and air attacks, Allied prisoners of war at Singapore, morale, his service experience, attitude towards capture, conditions in Japan and his limited exposure to Allied leaflet propaganda. |
