Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Sergeant JA145661 of the 79th Infantry Regiment Regimental Gun Company Headquarters Section, who was captured at Ago, between Kanomi Beach and Waon on 27 December 1943. JA145661, a 25 year old Sergeant from Ehime, was captured by Australian troops after becoming lost in the jungle for ten days during the retreat. He was on liaison duty. During the interrogation, JA145661 provided information on unit organisation, his movements, and training. He also told interrogators about the interrogation of one of eight Allied prisoners of war in Wewak in February 1943. He thought the cause of their retreat was lack of air support.
