Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Fort Stotsenburg on 2 February 1945 during the Allied campaign to recapture the Philippines. This item is a pamphlet entitled "Report on results of first-phase night fighting research manoeuvres", issued on 15 April 1944 by Akeno Army Flying Branch School and held by Kuribara Unit. It contains the results of a study into night fighting tactics with a Type 2 two-seater fighter equipped with an incline-mounted HO 5 20 mm machine-cannon. It includes observations about the effectiveness of the aircraft as a night fighter, the results of firing under certain conditions, night firing against an illuminated target and suggested combat methods. |
