| Content: | This item is a record of service for Superior Private MAEDA Mitsuo of the 78th Infantry Regiment 1st Infantry Gun Detachment, who died of malaria at the 2nd Field Hospital at Marienberg in April 1944. As well as the date and cause of Private MAEDA's death, the document lists his service record in the Imperial Army, beginning with his induction into the 4th Division 8th Infantry Regiment in 1938, his training in Manchuria, and his participation in various expeditions during the Pacific War. There is a detailed description of Private MAEDA's duties as the soldier in charge of ammunition for his unit, including a small area map of the region where his activities earned him commendation for meritorious service. This item was captured at Anamo in July 1944. |
