Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Sergeant Major BOMURA Akira of the Moridama Air Brigade 208th Air Group 3rd Company, who was captured in Tsilitsili near Wau on 20 August 1943. BOMURA, a 26 year old Sergeant Major from Kumamoto and wireless operator and gunner, was captured by Australian troops five days after his plane was shot down. He was the only survivor from the crash. Initially, he gave the false of as YOSHIDA Yoshio. BOMURA was interviewed several times by the investigators. During the interrogation, BOMURA provided a detailed personnel list of the 4th and 5th Air Division, performance of Japanese aircraft, communication equipment, social conditions in Japan, and his feelings about being captured. Organisation charts of 1st, 4th and 5th Air Divisions are attached as well as a sketch which illustrates trajectories of fire. |
