Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) supplementary interrogation report for merchant seaman JA130004 of Hakkô Maru, who was captured about 100 miles off Saigon on 5 January 1944. JA130004, a 19 year old Fireman from Niigata, was captured by an American submarine after the sinking of Hakkô Maru. The crew were on two lifeboats and one from each boat was picked by the submarine crew to be captured. To his annoyance, he was selected instead of the Captain. During the interrogation, JA130004 provided additional information on Hakkô Maru, other transport ships, some localities in south-east Asia and their facilities. |
