Content: | This item is a pictorial propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office during the Second World War. An English translation of the text and captions is attached. The leaflet includes a number of pictures depicting the naval losses of Japan in the Pacific. The main text warns Japanese soldiers that it is not possible to continue modern warfare in the Pacific without ships and air support. It also states that garrisons on the Solomon Islands, New Guinea, the Marshalls and the Marianas were sacrificed uselessly. 200,000 of them were printed. 85,500 of these leaflets were dispatched to Hollandia during 5 to 23 October 1944, 16,000 to Biak on12 October 1944, and 116,000 to Darwin between 4 and 24 December 1944. The item was reprinted as J229. |
