Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147727 of the 4th Sea Transport Battalion, who was captured at Wari (Manokwari) on 4 May 1944. JA147727, a 34 year old Superior Private from Shimane Prefecture, was captured by natives and handed over to US troops. During the interrogation, JA147727 provided information on the organisation (including charts) of the 4th Sea Transport Battalion and the 45th Sea Duty Force, rumours of guerrilla activity in remote parts of the Philippines, the movement of American prisoners of war from the Philippines to Japan, morale of Filippino workers employed by the Japanese, and shipping movements. |
