Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for 1st Class Private MIYAJI Chikara, who was captured in the Buna area on 28 November 1942 when he was shot by Australians. MIYAJI, a 32 year old from Kôchi, provided information on unit movements from Japan to New Britain, and from Rabaul to New Guinea. He also gave general information on the military system in the Japanese Army. His extensive accounts cover psychological aspects of Japanese soldiers' views of the war. These include his views on the progress of the war, treatment of local population, his family back home, and expected treatment of Japanese soldiers who were captured prisoners of war. |
