Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147852 of the 9th Fleet, Yoshida Unit, who was captured in Depapre, near Hollandia, on 13 May 1944. JA147852, a 25 year old 2nd Class Petty Officer (pay branch) from Kôchi Prefecture, became separated from his unit during the retreat from Hollandia and, after obtaining food from natives, was handed over to US troops. During the interrogation, JA147852 provided information on Allied prisoners of war in Rabaul in September 1942, the organisation and strength of the Yoshida Unit when at Hollandia, food and water supplies at Rabaul, his service experience, his attitude towards capture, his attitude towards the war, two propaganda leaflets he saw while in Rabaul, morale, detailed locations of facilities in Rabaul, incidence of malaria and other diseases, and the impact of Allied air raids on Rabaul in October 1943 and February 1944. The appendix contains a sketch map of Rabaul showing the location of various facilities and a diagram of a mobile radar apparatus.
