| Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147126 of the 25th Independent Anti-aircraft Machine-cannon Unit, who was captured at Talasea by US Marines on 13 March 1944. During the interrogation, JA147126 provided information on conscription and organisation in the Independent Machine-cannon Units, National Army Service, labour laws in Japan compelling anyone up to the age of 40 to work in factories, military training at Youth Schools and Allied air raids on Natamo (near Cape Gloucester) and surrounding waters between 1 and 6 September 1943. JA147216 also explained that at the beginning of the China Incident many volunteers were between 17 and 19 years of age, but fewer young volunteers were now coming forward. |
