Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147123 of the 4th Air Intelligence Unit, who was captured at Talasea on 13 March 1944. JA147123, a 24 year old 1st Class Private (airplane spotter) from Kyoto, bunked in native huts after arriving at the foot of the peninsula at Talasea. He was captured by US troops when the hut was shelled during their landing. JA147123 was wounded and captured without resistance. During the interrogation, he provided information on the organisation of the 4th Air Intelligence Unit (including charts) , casualties suffered by his platoon, Japanese methods of identifying Allied aircraft at Tsurubu (Tuluvu) and results of Allied air raids on Tsurubu and Rabaul on 16 and 17 February 1943. |
