|Content:||This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Amlang, Luzon, on 9 February 1945 during the Allied campaign to recapture the Philippines. This item is a pamphlet entitled "Combat instructions for 14th Area Army", issued on 15 October 1944 by 14th Area Army Headquarters and held by I 1218 Force. It includes information on waging offensive manoeuvres such as landings and beachhead assaults, and the principles of defensive action such as occupation of positions and the construction of fortifications. This item also contains sketches of beachhead assaults, coastal defence positions and diagrams of machine-gun, anti-tank gun, artillery, command post and communication centre positions.|
