Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA100046 of the 1st Carrier Division 3rd Fleet, who was captured on 5 November 1944. His operation base was an aircraft carrier, Zuihô. JA100046, a 22 year old Leading Airman from Hiroshima Prefecture, was picked up from the sea by an American destroyer after his plane was shot down off Bougainville by Allied naval machine-gun fire. Two other crew were drowned. During the interrogation, JA100046 provided information on unit organisation, movements, naval ships such as Shôkaku and Zuikaku, Type 97 Torpedo Bomber Mark 2 (Kate), training to release torpedos, identification patches for airmen, and installations on Moen Island in Truk. Diagrams of Zuihô, Zuihô's radar, torpedo sights, Vunakanau Airfield, Kavieng airfield, as well as sketch maps of Moen Island and its installations are attached.
