| Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147299 of the 4th Air Intelligence Regiment, 1st Company, who was captured in Numundo, near Talasea, on 27 March 1944. JA147299, a 23 year old First Class Private from Toyama Prefecture, fell behind his unit during a retreat from Karai-ai, in western New Britain, and was captured by US Marines while wandering through a native village near Numundo, south of Talasea. During the interrogation, JA147299 provided information on Japanese manufacturing companies, the organisation and function of the 1st Air Intelligence Regiment and the 4th Air Intelligence Regiment, and movements of the 4th Air Intelligence Regiment between January and August 1943. The report also includes a sketch of Toyama city in June 1942 and a layout plan of Fuji Koshi Steel Products factory. |
