Content: This item is a personal letter from UECHI Shôichi to the father of Second Lieutenant SAKAMOTO. It appears that SAKAMOTO's father was also in the army and was serving in the South Pacific. UECHI was attending Second Lieutenant SAKAMOTO when SAKAMOTO died in a field hospital. UECHI describes in the letter how SAKAMOTO was during the month leading to his death.
