Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for a civilian engine room storekeeper and oiler JA130003 of Hakkô Maru, who was captured off the coast of Indo-China on 5 January 1944. JA130003, a 35 year old civilian sailor from Saitama, was captured by a US submarine from a lifeboat after the sinking of Hakkô Maru. One crew from each boat was picked by the submarine and they became prisoners of war. During the interrogation, JA130003 provided information on various ports in Japan and Asia, such as Palembang, Bako Island in Taiwan and Singapore. |
