Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Lae on 22 September 1943 shortly after the fall of Lae and the Japanese retreat across the Finisterre Ranges. This item is a printed instruction book entitled "Fortification manual, part 2", published in 1942, publisher not stated. It includes instructions on land fortifications, gas defensive and protective installations, organisation of coastal fortifications, camouflage of airfields, principles of civilian air defence, underground passages, anti-aircraft installations.
