Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Sio on 14 January 1944 during the Huon Peninsula campaigns and the Japanese retreat across the Finisterre Range. This item is an extract from a handbook entitled "Explanation of anti-gas medical equipment", published in April 1935 by the Medical Affairs Branch of the Medical Bureau. It contains general remarks about gas warfare, first aid treatment for gas casualties, contents lists of anti-gas medical kits and the "Chemical warfare agent medical kit". This document was most likely brought to New Guinea with a unit previous serving in China or the Philippines where chemical weapons were used. |
