Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Cape Dinga near Nassau Bay on 15 July 1943 during the Japanese retreat from campaigns in the Owen Stanley Ranges. This item contains operational and daily orders for the Takamura Unit, 3rd Battalion, 102nd Infantry Regiment, 51st Division between 29 December 1942 and 3 June 1943. The document details the movement of the regiment from Rabaul to Lae in January 1943 and their subsequent operations in the Salamaua-Mubo area. It also contains information on the formation of the Okabe Detachment for the defence of Salamaua, brief accounts of contact with Allied forces, observations about Allied tactics and interaction with local people. |
