Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) combined interrogation report for 15 Japanese prisoners of war captured in and around Hollandia between April and May 1944 found not worth complete interrogation. The interrogations were conducted by student interrogators primarily for training purposes and the accuracy of the information was not verified. It contains information on personnel strength; recruitment and conscription; morale and welfare; troop movements; Allied air attacks on Wewak, Kairiru Island; Allied prisoners of war at Kôbe, Wewak, Singapore, Taihoku (Taipei); ship movements; malaria control; motor transportation and rumours that Japanese had occupied Hawaii. The appendix contains a sketch of the Allied prisoner-of-war camp in Taihoku, Taipei. |
