Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147129 of Chiburi Maru, who was captured at Salami Plantation in the Admiralty Islands on 10 March 1944. JA147129, a 22 year old Naval Warrant Officer from Yamaguchi Prefecture, was exhausted from malaria and starvation when he was captured by US troops. During the interrogation, JA147129 provided information on unit organisation, movements, ships such as Mogami, Chiburi, Yamato, and Musashi. He also talked about shipping routes, Allied prisoners of war in Niigata, and Allied attacks. Diagrams of the boiler room, boiler and interior of Mogami and sketch maps of Palau are included. |
