Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA100051, who was captured off Saonek Island on 24 April 1944. JA100051, a civilian fisherman, was suffering from malaria and starving when he was captured by Dutch ship. During the interrogation, JA100051 provided brief information on how his fishing boat was blown south from Okinawa and rescued by locals in Waigeo. He and the crew attempted to sail back to Japan, and approached a Dutch ship. His boat was attacked by the boat and he was injured and eventually rescued. |
