| Content: | This item is a record of service for Superior Private KANEMITSU Noriaki of the 78th Infantry Regiment 1st Infantry Gun Detachment, who died of his wounds at the 20th Division 2nd Field Hospital at Bau-ak in February 1944. (His name and place of birth indicate that he was either Korean, or a Japanese of Korean descent). As well as the date and cause of death, the document lists KANEMITSU's service record in the Imperial Army, beginning with his induction into the 8th Army Service Corps in April 1941. After joining the 1st Infantry Gun Detachment in 1942, KANEMITSU participated in operations with his unit at Palau, before landing at Hansa Bay in May 1943. This item belongs to a folder of similar items that were captured at Anamo in July 1944. |
