Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147856 of the 68th Infantry Regiment, Signals Company, who was captured at Depapre (50 kms west of Hollandia) on 9 May 1944. JA147856, a 23 year old Corporal from Kawasaki, was captured by natives after evacuating from Hollandia and handed over to US troops. During the interrogation, JA147856 provided information on wartime conditions in Manchuria, the organisation of the 49th Infantry Regiment Signals Company, the Army School system, disposition in Manchuria and Palau between March 1942 and December 1943, the location of Kwantung Army Headquarters, Allied air raids on Hollandia in March and April 1944, his attitude toward service life, being captured and the war in general. The appendix contains an organisational chart of the 49th Infantry Regiment Signals Company. |
