Content: | This item is a so-called surrender leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office during the Second World War. The message on the leaflet commends members of the 81st Regiment on their courageous efforts so far and urges them to consider working for the future of Japan rather than dying uselessly. It encourages them to join their comrades who have already surrendered and are waiting for the return of peace to Japan. The message also instructs the recipients how to use the leaflet when they decide to come over to the Australian side. The leaflet includes a hand-written map on which the Australian position in the Numa Numa area is indicated. |
