Content: This item is part of a compilation of reports and analyses of battles titled "Lessons from the battlefield". It was issued on 23 Sep 1944 by the Imperial GHQ Army Division to the Southern Area Army GHQ. It contains a detailed analysis of troop dispositions, gun placements, and all aspects of weapons deployment in the defence of islands and coastal areas. Accompanied by numerous diagrams, it draws on battle experiences especially in Guam, Tarawa, Tinian and Saipan. It is marked top secret and was probably captured in the Philippines in late 1944 or early 1945.
